: Capcom Triple Teaming PC

Capcom today confirmed that they will be bringing Bionic Commando, Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5 to PC. Street Fighter IV and Bionic Commando will both be releasing in July 2009, with Resident Evil 5 following later in the year. All three titles will be available at retail and also via digital distribution services.

Street Fighter IV on PC will have higher screen resolutions and three new shaders to change the game's appearance. Bionic Commando will also have higher-resolution support, along with mouse and keyboard controls. Finally, Resident Evil 5 will have online co-op play and will be compatible with Nvidia's GeForce 3D Vision technology.

Game News : The creators of SOCOM throw 256 players onto a map just to watch them die.
Game News
Two hundred and fifty six simultaneous players. It sounds ridiculous in a world where most multiplayer action video games top off at 16-32, but Sony won't hear it. Nor will Zipper Interactive, the developer behind MAG (Massive Action Game), one of the most ambitious project to ever hit PlayStation 3. If both parties succeed, this'll be a monumental achievement that'll forever change the console landscape. The team, armed with the accolades of creating the critically acclaimed SOCOM franchise, knows that failure is not an option.

MAG takes place 20 years into the future when countries can no longer support armies overseas. To deal with international conflicts, these nations contract with three Private Military Companies (PMCs). Since each PMC wants as many contracts as possible, they'll do anything to get them, even if it means slaughtering the competition. That is where you come in. After choosing a PMC (Zipper revealed two, the sci-fi inspired Raven and the less sophisticated but adaptable SVER), you meet up with seven other squad mates. Eventually, four squads join up to form a platoon and four platoons merge to create a company. With squad leaders, platoon leaders and the granddaddy of them all, the OIC (Officer in Charge), you set out to complete primary and secondary objectives that not only result in scores of casualties, but also earn you and your buddies valuable experience points to level up.

Headlines : World Trade Centre towers
Headlines
Almost five years since the September 11 attacks, the designs for a replacement of the World Trade Centre towers have been unveiled.

The centrepiece will be a skyscraper topped by four shining diamond-shaped panels that will light up lower Manhattan at night.

Until now, the site remained largely undeveloped due to disputes about what should be built - and protests from victims' families.

The tallest tower, designed by British architect Lord Foster, is the height of the Empire State Building.

He has proposed a slender, 71-storey building with criss-crossing beams up and down the sides, crowned by four 100ft spires at its corners in a style reminiscent of an English church tower.

The famous architect said his diamond panels would be inclined towards the planned memorial to the 9/11 attacks as a sign of respect.

He said: "The top of the building is cut in such a way so that it responds to the perspective of that park. Wherever you are... and you look at this tower, it will tell you where the memorial park is."

Lord Foster worked with his British rival Lord Rogers on the designs which have been described as "brilliant" by the New York state governor. Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki also presented his design for a tower.

The buildings will be next to the 1,776ft Freedom Tower, which is now being built.

The whole scheme is due to be unveiled in 2012. They will be arranged in a semicircle in descending height to echo the shape of the Statue of Liberty's torch.

Work on the three latest towers is scheduled to begin in 2007 or 2008 and finish by 2012.

Headlines : A Computer With 400 Terabytes of Memory
Headlines
NEWPORT, R.I.—The Energy Department’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory will start to take delivery on a computer at least as three times more powerful than any now in operation.

The system should be operational by 2008, according to Thomas Zacharia, ORNL associate lab director for computing and computational sciences. Zacharia spoke at the High Performance Computing and Communications Conference this week in Newport, R.I.

Cray Inc. of Seattle will supply the system, named Baker. It will run approximately 24,000 2.6 Ghz quad-core Opteron processors made by Advanced Micro Devices Inc. The nodes will be housed in 187 liquid-cooled cabinets. The system, which is still in early stages of design, will have either 187 or 400 terabytes of working memory (depending on the cost of memory modules) and from one to 11 petabytes of storage.

Such a computer, if operational today, would be considered the world's fastest; it may even be the first to break the 1 petaflop limit. A PFLOP is 1 quadrllion floating-point operations per second.
